**Location:** Austin, TX **Duration:** July 6, 2026 – August 31, 2026 (up to 344 hours) **Hours:** Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; may require work outside normal business hours (weekends, evenings, holidays) depending on project activities **Interview Mode:** Microsoft Teams **Overview** A Texas state agency seeks a Senior Operational Oracle Database Administrator to ensure the stability, patching, and scalability of critical database environments that support multiple concurrent ERP implementations and upgrades. The primary responsibility is to design and execute database upgrades from Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai, and to maintain multiple environments that support ETL activities. This remote position may transition to hybrid with a negotiated in-office schedule. Candidates will be subject to a pre-employment security review. **Key Responsibilities** - Design and execute database upgrades from Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai - Maintain multiple database environments supporting ETL activities - Perform Grid Infrastructure setup and maintenance (ASM, Clusterware) - Ensure security vulnerability compliance and performance tuning - Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements - Create and maintain production databases, including test environments - Perform logical and physical data modeling; design relational database models - Execute procedures to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures - Implement and enhance database security standards - Coordinate data use to ensure data integrity and control redundancy - Provide technical assistance and evaluate user requests for new data elements - Ensure database administration interfaces comply with EIR Accessibility standards - Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to database management systems - Assist with disaster recovery procedures and systems monitoring - Maintain data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions **Required Qualifications** - 8+ years of experience in infrastructure management with Oracle 19c version or higher - 8+ years of experience with Grid infrastructure (ASM, Clusterware) - 8+ years of experience with high-availability solutions (GoldenGate, Active Data Guard) - 8+ years of experience with advanced scripting (Linux, SQL) - Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming work - Knowledge of database structures, theories, and current database technologies - Knowledge of computer programming languages and data processing flowcharting techniques - Working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies **Preferred Qualifications** - 4+ years of experience working with a public sector organization (Federal, State, or Local Government) - 2+ years of experience working with a hosting vendor - 2+ years of experience working with Oracle PeopleSoft products **Work Location & Requirements** - Remote position; may transition to hybrid with negotiated in-office schedule - Primary work location: Austin, TX - Must be available to work outside normal business hours (weekends, evenings, holidays) as needed - All travel, per diem, parking, and living expenses at candidate's expense - Must sign Acceptable Use Agreement and Contractor Integrity Agreement - Must complete criminal history investigation within six months prior to start - Must comply with e-verify requirements - Subject to pre-employment security review
