Job description

**Location:** Austin, Texas **Duration:** 9/1/2026 – 8/31/2027 (up to 2,008 hours) **Hours:** Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed) **Overview** A Texas state agency is seeking a QA Associate/Analyst 3 to collaborate with the development team to ensure business needs are reflected in the quality and usability of software code that is developed and deployed. The analyst will mitigate timeline and accuracy risks associated with software coding changes by discovering defects in software code prior to its release to internal and external customers. Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and both written and verbal communications skills with software testing experience are necessary. Software testing will involve working with the IT project team as well as program staff. **Key Responsibilities** - Develop and maintain test cases for integration, data conversion, and system testing - Develop, maintain, and upgrade manual test scripts - Review, analyze, and execute manual test cases within HP ALM/JIRA - Work with project Business Analyst to correctly interpret business processes and requirements - Work with QA Lead to determine assignments and deadlines - Create, maintain, and test application defects within HP ALM/JIRA - Use the complete MS Office suite - Perform other duties as assigned **Required Qualifications** - 8+ years of experience testing all aspects of web-based applications: UI, database, batch, web service - 8+ years of experience in formulating test scenarios, creating detailed test cases, and performing manual application testing within a complex software environment - 5+ years of ability to work in a team environment and interact with a diverse level of staff to exchange and/or extract information - 5+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and upgrading test cases using HP ALM/JIRA - 5+ years of experience creating and maintaining defects using HP ALM/JIRA - 5+ years of experience with MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.) - 5+ years of experience setting up test data using SQL and PL/SQL - 2+ years of experience testing data conversions - 1+ year of experience testing web services and batch processes using various toolsets **Preferred Qualifications** - 3+ years of working knowledge of browser testing tools - 3+ years of working knowledge of SharePoint - 1+ year of working knowledge of Test Automation (Selenium, LoadRunner, Accessibility testing) and the ability to troubleshoot integrations with HP ALM/JIRA - 1+ year of experience testing within Salesforce application - 1+ year of working knowledge of accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, Wave, CCA, etc. **Work Location & Requirements** - Primary work location is telework/remote - Selected candidate will be required to physically pick up agency-issued equipment and attend an onboarding session on their first day of contract - Additional appointments and blocks of time will be required during the first week of assignment - Candidate may be required to physically attend meetings with minimal notice - Candidates currently residing outside of the State of Texas may be required to relocate to Texas if selected for this position and the offer is accepted - Must pass fingerprint criminal background check and other due diligence checks - All travel, per diem, parking, and/or living expenses shall be at the Candidate's and/or Vendor's expense
