Job description

**Location:** Austin, Texas **Duration:** June 29, 2026 – August 31, 2026 (696 hours) **Hours:** Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed) **Overview** A Texas state agency is seeking a Software Developer 2 to join their Applications/Software Development team. This role involves researching, designing, implementing, and managing software programs while working closely with developers, UX designers, business analysts, and systems analysts. The position requires 4–7 years of experience and offers considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment within an Agile or Scrum environment. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, code, and modify complex computer programs, subroutines, triggers, stored procedures, objects, classes, and scripts using Angular, C#, ASP.net, and Oracle Database - Perform comprehensive testing of assigned programs, including generation of test data, writing test scripts/execution sequences, examining test results, and debugging detected errors - Apply current software development methods/techniques and established development standards to ensure quality and maintainability of applications - Participate in code reviews to ensure compliance with development standards and system/business requirements - Collaborate with trainers, technical support staff, network specialists, and contract staff to perform modifications and/or updates to existing systems or implement new systems - Identify, investigate, and resolve production problems through analysis, coding, testing, implementation, and training of technical staff and/or customers - Analyze requirements for new applications and enhancements to be implemented - Work within a software development team, coordinating development efforts and providing status updates to the team leader or project manager - Assist in the development and maintenance of systems documentation **Required Qualifications** - 7+ years of experience in computer programming, analysis, and development of complex business processes and system solutions - 7+ years of experience in coding, testing, and debugging of programs in development and/or requiring support for issue resolution, performance, or enhancement - 7+ years demonstrating ability to process information logically, design programs and systems logic, and prepare program specifications - 7+ years with highly developed oral and written communication skills - 7+ years with high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output - 7+ years of knowledge and understanding of Information Technology industry trends, directions, and market experience with ability to relate them to own organization - 7+ years of knowledge of architectural concepts, principles, and tools relevant to infrastructure, information, applications, and organizational structure - 7+ years of knowledge of emerging technologies (new to company systems as well as those new to the information systems industry) - 7+ years of knowledge of tools, techniques, and good practices for protecting the integrity of corporate data and associated processing, company technology practices, standards, and procedures - 7+ years of knowledge of solution delivery utilizing Agile or Scrum methodology **Preferred Qualifications** - 2+ years of familiarity with the organization's information architecture and information management methodologies - 2+ years of familiarity with existing and planned software technology and the global, regional, and local software architecture and infrastructure components **Work Location & Requirements** - Hybrid position with on-site and telework options - Primary work location in Austin, Texas - Normal business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays - May be required to work outside normal business hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays as requested - All travel, per diem, parking, and living expenses are at the Candidate's and/or Vendor's expense - Must satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law - All work products are considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the client agency
